Hi! I’m Jennifer, founder of Workroom Social, a sewing studio based in Brooklyn, New York.
I believe in the power of sewing.
Through sewing I build communities, stimulate creativity, and help improve women’s self-esteem and confidence by empowering them to sew the clothes they want to wear.
I work hard every day to promote a sense of accomplishment in our community by reminding sewists of their abilities. Together we learn from each sewing fail and celebrate every sewing win, no matter how small.
As Social Sewists, we use our shared passion for sewing to connect with those we might not meet otherwise, and I create opportunities for our members to develop relationships with each other that go beyond sewing itself.
I hope you'll join me as Social Sewists member for this special sewing experience!

Anyone can sew their own clothes! It takes a little imagination, some instruction, and practice.
At Workroom Social, we teach adults how to sew clothes that fit their individual styles and unique body shapes and sizes.
We create a supportive and non-competitive environment in all of our classes. Perfection is never our goal in the classroom. Students should expect that their skills will improve with practice over time.
Our team of professional designers and sewists make garment sewing approachable, and it’s our goal to provide students with the confidence and the knowledge they need to continue practicing sewing at home.
Through sewing we build communities, stimulate creativity, and help improve women’s self-esteem and confidence by empowering them to sew the clothes they want to wear.
We work hard every day to promote a sense of accomplishment in our students and customers by reminding them of their abilities. Together we learn from each sewing fail and celebrate every sewing win, no matter how small.
We use our shared passion for sewing to connect with those we might not meet otherwise, and we create opportunities for our students to develop relationships that go far beyond sewing itself.
At Workroom Social we develop opportunities for sewists to build relationships that go far beyond sewing itself. Workroom Social creates community spaces for sewists to interact with each other, and these rules and guidelines apply to all Workroom Social created and managed spaces.
We recognize that our hobbies are only one aspect of our complicated lives, and the time we spend together sewing does not erase difficulties we face or hardships we're experiencing.
Please use Workroom Social community spaces to enhance the Workroom Social experience, for yourself and for our maker community: connect with others, ask for help, share your achievements, lift up others, and support others requesting assistance.
Please read our complete rules and guidelines at workroomsocial.com/community-rules. It’s important to create a space in which you feel included, comfortable, and safe, and to do this we all must abide by these rules. We take violations of these rules seriously, and upon violation, we will mute, remove, or take other actions to protect the community at our discretion.
For easy reference, here is a bulleted overview of our rules and guidelines.
